Inauguration of OM Fondation’s First “Capitale du Foot” Field

On September 15th, the first “Capitale du Foot” (Capital of Football) field was inaugurated on Place de la Major in the presence of the Minister of Sports, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, the city of Marseille, the town halls of the 2nd and 3rd districts, the CMA CGM Foundation, and the OM Foundation, represented by the President of Olympique de Marseille, Pablo Longoria.

The “Capitale du Foot” project addresses a specific need of the region: the rehabilitation of underutilized spaces to transform them into sports facilities accessible to all. Once operational, these fields will host sporting and cultural activities organized by the OM Foundation and local associations several times throughout the year.

This initiative represents a significant step towards revitalizing the community, providing a hub for both sports and cultural events. It not only fosters the love for football but also promotes social integration and access to physical activities for everyone in the area. Through the collaboration of various stakeholders, “Capitale du Foot” is contributing to the overall betterment of the region, aligning with the values of inclusivity, community engagement, and sports development.

Local stakeholders who collaborated on this project include the town hall of the 2nd and 3rd districts, the city of Marseille, the National Sports Agency (ANS), the CMA CGM Foundation, and the OM Foundation. They all join forces with a common goal: to create a sports facility accessible to everyone, capable of accommodating various activities, and one that the residents will take pride in using.
