Juventus for Special @School fosters social inclusion

The Juventus for Special @School project brought the Juventus for Special team together with school children of all ages. The team is made up of young men with disabilities, who have participated with excellent results in the “Fourth Category” championship for two years.

But the Juventus for Special project is not only about sporting success: the message it sends is an invitation to overcome disability, to look beyond, to develop skills through sport, and to integrate better into society.

This message was the basis of the Juventus for Special @School programme: a training event throughout an entire season dedicated to schools of every grade and level, during which the athletes of the Juventus team explain to normal-bodied girls and boys what they have learned and are still learning through football. The goal of this initiative, as of the whole Juventus for Special project, is the promotion of a culture of complete integration that includes also people with different abilities.

Juventus for Special in the final

The season of the first men team concluded already before, but the season of the Juventus for Special team went on. From the 21st to the 23rd of June, the Fourth Category Special Cup took place in Coverciano. Twelve teams (the winners of the Regional tournaments of the 2017/2018 season and of the 2018/2019 season) competed in the Federal Technical Center in a football tournament to become the Champion of Italy. The Juventus team played four games in total and made it to the final. Gli insuperabli won the exciting final 2-1 but both teams were celebrated with applause for their performance during the whole season.

This year will see the first More than Football Award ceremony at the 13th EFDN Conference, hosted at Camp Nou, Barcelona on the 19th and 20th of November 2019. Juventus for Special @School is among the 10 projects that have been selected for the initial long list.
