KAA Gent is a New Member of EFDN

The Belgian club KAA Gent has joined forces with EFDN in a new membership.

KAA Gent, known by their nickname De Buffalo’s, is a Belgian football, track and field and field hockey club, based in the city of Ghent, East Flanders. They have been playing in the Belgian Pro League since the 1989–90 season. They won the national league once, in 2014–15, in addition to three Belgian Cup victories. Gent played their home matches in the Jules Ottenstadion in Gentbrugge from 1920 until 2013, when they moved to the Ghelamco Arena. Their team colours are blue and white. Gent enjoyed a first spell at the highest level in Belgian football between 1913–14 and 1928–29, and a second one from 1936–37 to 1966–67. In the 1970s and 1980s, the club had several promotions and relegations between the first and second divisions, to come back at the highest level in 1989. The club reached the 1991–92 UEFA Cup quarter-finals, which is their best achievement ever in European competitions.

The KAA Gent CSR Foundation ‘Football in the community’ creates with KAA Gent social value for the people of Ghent, using the acquiring power of football in the city and the football stadium infrastructure for the benefit of the local society. The close cooperation between the City of Ghent and KAA Gent to complete the new football stadium resulted in this social collaboration. Football in the Community develops and supports a large number of projects benefitting society, youth football and solidarity between the club, local residents and supporters. A few examples of community projects: the Buffalo Cup school football tournament, social football for the homeless (KAA Gent Homeless Blue White), employment care for psychiatric patients (Buffalo Bustels), campaigns against homophobia, discrimination, racism and so on. The club also provides a space inside the stadium for the supporters and social projects: the KAA Gent Community Centre.

Thanks for joining our network, KAA Gent!
