MTF Fund awarded

The MTF Fund was set up to improve the social power of football clubs to increase the impact of the projects they carry out. From the MTF, there is an opportunity for clubs affiliated to EFDN to apply for a grant for the project they are struggling to fund from their own grants. The MTF Fund is sponsered by UNIBET

This week, the moment of giving out the awards arrived. Prizes and cheques were handed out by Hubert Rovers and Ton Strooband to Eredivisie and KKD teams.

Below you can see the winners of the awards and their respective project.

FC Groningen walked away with a cheque for €2,500 with the project: Skillsbox. A project dedicated to getting children to exercise in a varied way. This project aims to develop children’s broad motor movement skills. We want to do this by challenging children to try different forms of movement with material from the skills box in the schoolyard during the break. This project is especially for primary schools in the municipality of Groningen.

Six cheques of €5,000 were handed out on behalf of EFDN and UNIBET

Vitesse: Vitesse Werkt. A reintegration project where people are prepared for a paid job or study within six months. The aim of Vitesse Werkt! is to make participating young people, work-fit. Due to various circumstances, it is not possible for a large group of young people (in Arnhem) to find a job. With the Vitesse Werkt! project, Vitesse Betrokken wants to do its bit to solve this problem. That means providing that perfect cross so that that job can be kicked in.

NAC: the Blind Tribune. With which blind and visually impaired people are given the opportunity to enjoy a football match through a connection with a special sports reporter. Through headphones with transmitters, the visually impaired NAC fans receive live commentary from specially trained students from the School of Journalism. The reporters try to report as visually as possible.

FC Twente entered the competition with an energy related project: Also bothered by all that energy whining? FC Twente helps you through the winter!

ADO Den Haag: they entered the competition with their project: Live like an ADO professional! With ‘Living like an ADO Professional’, ADO Den Haag and ADO Den Haag in de Maatschappij want to give children and youngsters from the region the opportunity to experience the unique experience of being a professional footballer in an optimal environment, to discover their talents and to develop their competences. During the pilot editions the methods will be tested in order to set up the projects at schools, clubs and in the neighbourhood from September 2021 onwards.

Excelsior with its Excelsior Youth Hub. A project to give something back to young people in the neighbourhood. This space has been completely decorated as a WOW environment, intended for youth from the neighbourhood. Besides a football pitch in the former swimming pool, a learning centre has been set up, learning workstations, a space for private talks and an Ezone where young people can play games.

RKC Waalwijk entered the competition with the project: Barriers away in the stadium. A project to make the entire stadium wheelchair-friendly.

After the €5,000 cheques, there were 2 cheques left.

In which FC Emmen walked away with a €7,500 cheque for its project: FC Emmen G-Football. With the G football team, FC Emmen wants to create a stage for G players with ambition. Despite having a disability, we want to show that it is possible to play at a high level. In doing so, we simultaneously increase the visibility of children with a disability in the region and promote a positive image.

Finally, NEC Nijmegen walked away with a cheque of €10,000 for its project: N.E.C. Wheelchair Football. A project where they cater to children in wheelchairs with sports needs. Electric wheelchair football has been practised in England for some time. There, the Wheelchair Football Association (WFA) was set up in 2005 to inspire clubs to set up teams and organise a competition. In the Netherlands and specifically in Nijmegen, there is also demand for the sport, which is why N.E.C. wants to offer it in the Nijmegen region in cooperation with Uniek Sporten and the KNVB.

From EFDN and UNIBET, we wish everyone the best of luck with the future of these projects.
