Saints Foundation supporting Saints Women at Pompey game

Participants from Saints Foundation’s charitable projects will form a guard of honour for the Women’s First Team at this week’s south coast derby. Saints Foundation will also be fundraising and raising awareness of their work in the community at the fixture, which is being played at St Mary’s Stadium this Wednesday (20th April).

Saints Women has strong ties with the Foundation, with the side led by charity ambassador Marieanne Spacey-Cale and captained by Saints Foundation’s Inclusion Coordinator Shannon Sievwright.

The Women’s first team will look to make it three victories over Pompey this season when their rivals make the short journey west to St Mary’s. Saints currently sit at the top of the table of the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier, the third division of women’s football – winning the league would qualify them for a play-off to determine which team will earn promotion to the Championship.

Saints Foundation is committed to levelling the playing field for women and girls both on and off the pitch. Next Wednesday’s guard of honour will be partly formed of participants from the Changemakers project, a Premier League funded programme that supports girls and young women in developing their personal skills and positive attitudes toward leadership.

Earlier this year, the Foundation told the story of 14-year-old Jess, who has channelled her passion for football into developing essential life skills through Premier League Changemakers. You can watch that video here.
