Saints Goal Programme by Saints Foundation is Successfully Completed

The latest edition of Saints Foundation’s popular health and wellbeing programme, Saints Goal, has come to an end and the foundation couldn’t be happier with the results shown by those involved.

Over the 12-week programme, participants came to weekly sessions to support them in making positive changes towards a healthier and more active lifestyle. Sessions typically consisted of a combination of learning and physical activity, all based inside St Mary’s Stadium. The topics learned about ranged from mental health to food labelling and participants were also shown various exercises and activities to try from circuit training to Pilates.

Saints Goal has been supported by the foundation’s official wellness partner, Vitality – the health and life insurance company offered additional learning resources to those involved and special meet and greet opportunities with players from Southampton FC’s men’s and women’s first teams. Vitality also provided a rewards programme which included shopping vouchers and smartwatches as an incentive to make positive lifestyle changes.

“Saint’s Goal has made a HUGE difference to me – I’ve got more confidence in myself, I’ve realised that keeping fit and healthy can be fun and I can have a bad day and don’t need to feel guilty. There’s no doubt about it, Saints Goal has changed my life.”

Jeanette, participant of the programme

The group accomplished amazing results both physically and mentally. More than three quarters of those involved lost weight and, collectively, the group dropped 72.5kgs. An impressive 88% are now also reporting better mental health, with 12% saying theirs has stayed the same.

“Saints goal has renewed my self-confidence. When signing up, I believed weight loss was about sticking to a strict diet, but the course has shown me that with the right state of mind, eating well and in proportion and exercising, I can achieve weight loss and self-love. I also met a fantastic group of people.”
