Samen RKC put the elderly people of Eikendonk in the spotlight
On Tuesday 7th of September, the elderly of Mijzo care facility Eikendonk were put in the limelight. With the One-two punch (Een-Tweetje in Dutch), Samen RKC, the foundation of EFDN member RKC Waalwijk, tries to give the elderly a nice pastime. This day the elderly were allowed to visit the training of the first team and activities were done with the first team players of RKC Waalwijk.
In the morning the elderly were picked up at their residence Eikendonk to come and watch the training of RKC Waalwijk. Together, they watched the morning training of the first-team squad in the sunshine, where there were quite a few beautiful goals to admire. After the training, the elderly could start moving! With short exercises, the arms and legs were loosened up.
In the afternoon a nice lunch in the Mandemakers Stadium was on the programme, which was followed by a quiz. On this pleasant summer afternoon, the elderly got the attention they deserved. It didn’t end there, because after a tour of the stadium they were accompanied on their way back to Eikendonk by selection players Issam El Maach, Lars Nieuwpoort, Finn Stokkers, Shawn Adewoye and Sebbe Augustijns. Together RKC looks back on this beautiful day in a very positive way and hopes that the senior citizens have experienced it just as well.
One-two punch
With the project One-two, Foundation Samen RKC tries to contribute to the fight against loneliness among elderly people in cooperation with RKC Waalwijk.
