Schalke Hilft! for social commitment with Coca-Cola

FC Schalke 04 and its own foundation Schalke Hilft! are launching a joint campaign with Coca-Cola: for the home match against Wehen Wiesbaden, visitors can look for the special deposit containers on the arena ring of the VELTINS-Arena.

Bottle-shaped stands made from 100 percent recycled materials and provided by the long-term Schalke 04’s partner, are placed all around the Arena, where the players and fans can easily dispose of their empty reusable cups and bottles and do something good at the same time.

The deposit money collected from the cups will directly go to the work of the Schalke 04’s fundation Schalke Hilft!, who will use them to support the people in Gelsenkirchen and surrounding areas that need help most urgently.

The necessity of this initiative is demonstrated by a look at the social conditions in the city of Gelsenkirchen, which has been affected by stuctural changes. This decision is also due to alarming datas: 42 percent of the children in the city are at risk of poverty, placing them at the last place in the ranking of Germany.

“With the special containers we want to involve our fans and give them the opportunity at home games to take action easily and simply to help people in need in our region.”
