The Vitesse G-Trophy is back!

After three years of absence a wonderful tradition will be held again at Papendal, the training accommodation of our member Vitesse Arnhem: the Vitesse G-Trophy!

The Vitesse G-Trophy has been organised since 1996, but was halted for a number of years. The organisation is in hands of Stichting Vitesse Betrokken. Fortunately, on Wednesday, 1 September 2021 it’s time again to put on the football boots. Teams consisting of participants with a mental disability will compete for the Cup and of course the eternal honor. The day starts at 12.00 hours and ends at 17.00 hours.

For whom?
The Vitesse G-Trophy is a football tournament for (young) adults (18+) with a mental disability (light to very serious). The matches will be held in a 6-a-side set up and a team consists of a maximum of 10 people. In the past, participation was only possible for youngsters of residential facilities and family replacement homes. This year there are no special requirements. G-teams from amateur clubs can therefore also apply. The team members must of course meet the above requirements.

“One of the most fun activity of the season”
Edward Sturing, Head of Vitesse Football Academy, is pleased that the G-Trophy returns: “I’ve experienced the G-Trophy several times as a player and as a trainer. It is one of the most fun activities in a football season. The pleasure that both participants and players have during this tournament is fantastic to see.”

Covid-19 restrictions
At this time (June 16, 2021), Covid-19 restrictions do not allow the tournament to take place. Nevertheless, it is important that we continue to look ahead and plan fun things that we can work towards. We therefore plan the Vitesse G-Trophy with reservations. Should the measures not be released, we may have to cancel the tournament. The situation will be reviewed on Friday, July 23. If the decision is made the tournament not to happen, your participation remains valid for the following year. You will then have the first opportunity to register for the Vitesse G-Trophy.
