Upcoming EFDN Events!

As a new year has just commenced, we would like to let our members and others know what some of the upcoming events and actions are:

Walking Football League and Special Champions League

The Walking Football League aims to deliver health-enhancing physical activity to people over the age of 50 years old, as well as provide opportunities to increase social inclusion levels allowing them to lead a physically and socially active lifestyle in their European community. During May 22nd – 24th of 2023 the third edition of the Walking Football Tournament will be held. On this new edition the teams alongside EFDN will travel to Newcastle where Newcastle United will be hosting the tournament.

After the successful completion of the previous tournament where teams travelled to Leverkusen we would like to invite all teams that match the criteria to save the date and bring their players along to this unique opportunity.

The Special Champions League aims to enhance the social inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities through football. Furthermore, during February 7th – 9th of 2023 a first edition of the Special Champions League Tournament will be held. For this pioneering occasion teams will be travelling to Lisbon where SL Benfica will be hosting the tournament.

Teams have been preparing tirelessly for this opportunity and we are sure fun and exciting time wait ahead. We would like to invite all interested teams that match the criteria to the first edition of the Special Champions League Tournament

19th EFDN Conference

EFDN Conferences bring a unique opportunity for CSR experts and newcomers into the CSR world to learn from each other and share their insights about topics such as fundraising in CSR, environmental sustainability, anti-discrimination, social inclusion, online safeguarding, physical activity in younger and older population, or STEM education, among others. The format of the conference includes panels, breakout sessions, study visits and roundtables, and offers multiple chances to network and connect with other EFDN members and experts in the CSR in football.

The content of the 19th EFDN Conference will be announced soon. In the meantime, EFDN can already share that there will be two days of events for EFDN Members and non-members who buy their tickets, followed by evening events on the 20th until the 22nd of November. More information on the conference will be announced shortly and can be found on efdnconference.org.

The #Morethanfootball action weeks

The #Morethanfootball Action Weeks (17th of March until the 13th of April) is a global campaign for the European football community to showcase the impact of their community and social responsibility activities and programmes. Initiated by the European Football for Development Network, the campaign provides the wider European football family with a platform to inform and engage with fans and stakeholders on their Community and Social Responsibility activities and raise awareness of the transformative role European club football can play in changing peoples’ lives for the better.

During the #Morethanfootball Action Weeks, the participating organisations celebrate the work they do on and off the pitch on a local, national and international level through special match-day activities, digital campaigns and the use of more traditional media methods such as banners, billboards, posters and brochures. If you want to know more about the action weeks click HERE.

Through these events EFDN hopes to use show the world that football is capable of #morethanfootball. As an organisation EFDN hopes to see all of the members involved and active in their own communities. Please do not hesitate to contact EFDN for more information on any of the upcoming activations.
