VfL Wolfsburg hosts Diversity Cup in the Volkswagen Arena

A total of 360 pupils from seven Wolfsburg schools enjoyed a successful change of pace and a very special highlight last week. Instead of going to school, they went to the Volkswagen Arena. This time, where the ball is actually kicked in the Bundesliga, the Diversity Cup took place.

24 Teams at the Football Tournament

14 Wolfsburg partner schools, seven of which took part in the Diversity Cup and later in the day entered the football tournament with 24 teams, took part in the VfL education project entitled “Wolfsburg School for Diversity” in the school year 2022/2023 and dealt intensively with the topic of diversity. The Project partners had attended at least three workshops revolving around the topic of diversity in the first half of the year, and had each developed their own Project for the second half of the year – among other things, a Children’s book, a Film and a Rap were created. The schools were awarded for their successful participation and received both a certificate and a Wolves jersey for each educational institution.

Ratsgymnasium Wolfsburg triumphs

The tournament in the Volkswagen Arena was an intense match – but without ignoring the idea of fair play. In the end, a team from the Ratsgymnasium won the final 1:0 against a team from the Neue Schule. Third place went to a selection from the Gymnasium Fallersleben. After VfL promotion hero Roy Präger and Wölfi presented the first part of the awards, there were trophies for the best three teams of the tournament.
