Wolfsburg Become Partners of “A Chance to Play”

VfL Wolfsburg supports the initiative of the children’s charity terre des hommes and the Volkswagen Group Works Council.

From now on, VfL Wolfsburg will be supporting the “a chance to play” initiative of the Volkswagen Group Works Council and the children’s charity terre des hommes. “A chance to play” is aimed at disadvantaged children and young people in the vicinity of Volkswagen locations in Germany and worldwide. Through play and sport, children are encouraged in their development and are reached in an age-appropriate way with further offers, for example in the areas of education and violence prevention. The projects are implemented by the experienced children’s rights organisation terre des hommes and its local partners. In Germany, joint activities with the VfL football school, panel discussions and campaigns around World Match Day are also planned. Wolfsburg has supported this partners project in Mexico and Brazil. The focus here was also on supporting children through sports, learning and educational opportunities.

“Terre des hommes has been an important partner and companion of VfL Wolfsburg for many years, implementing valuable projects for children. We are very pleased that we can continue to support sustainable projects for disadvantaged girls and boys together in the future. The ‘a chance to play’ initiative, with its international approach of motivating children to take part in learning and educational opportunities through sport, fits in very well with our existing commitment.”

Nico Briskorn, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at VfL Wolfsburg.

“It is part of the core of our corporate culture to stand up for the weaker members of society and, in doing so, to keep an eye on the younger generations in particular. Our colleagues support this in many ways. The joint initiative ‘a chance to play’ has long been an affair of the heart for our staff, who follow the work in the projects with great interest. That’s why it’s just great that with VfL Wolfsburg as part of our Group family, our Wolves are now also actively supporting it.”

Daniela Cavallo, Chairwoman of Volkswagen’s Group Works Council

“We are very pleased that VfL Wolfsburg is supporting the ‘a chance to play’ campaign. Once again, VfL is showing that it takes its social responsibility seriously – a strong partner with whom we can work together to strengthen disadvantaged girls and boys and help them develop their potential.”

Beat Wehrle, Director of Programmes at terre des hommes.
