Kicking Youth Competences
The Kicking Youth Competences report published by the Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) sets out ways in which sport can contribute to a holistic model of career orientation and preparation, and can enhance competence development.
The transition to gainful employment is a huge challenge for young people, regardless of their individual socio-cultural background. It means investigating individual interests and strengths, finding out about training and career opportunities, and then making the right choices on the road to a successful future – enormous step for any young person, no matter where they are in the world.
Developing ideas for a future career and taking decisions with a view to entering the labour market are key tasks during adolescence. At this time, the foundations are laid for taking over responsibility for sharing individual lives and to create opportunities for participation in the labour market.
Sport can enhance the personal development of young people. To achieve this requires coaches with appropriate training.
This Kicking Youth Competences manual lays out in which way sport can be used to contribute to career orientation, preparation and the development of competences.
To this end, the manual Kicking Youth Competences provides examples of exercises, which put the theory into practice.
