Annual presentation Social Impact ADO Den Haag eye-opener for attendees!

Prior to the ADO Den Haag – TOP Oss match on Friday 16 December 2022, ADO Den Haag in de Maatschappij, in cooperation with the club, organised its Annual Social Impact Presentation in the Club Lounge of the Bingoal Stadium for relations, partners and key stakeholders of the club and foundation. The meeting focused on the development of ADO Den Haag’s social impact.

Despite traffic jams around the stadium, gritting trucks clearing the roads of ice and Christmas obligations, many guests headed to the stadium to attend the annual presentation. Stadium speaker Wietze Smid opened the meeting, a little later than expected, with a short conversation with Marco Esser, the chairman of ADO Den Haag in de Maatschappij.

MAEX methodology

Next, CSR project manager Kees Brouwers took the participants through the club’s positive societal developments in the presentation ‘Trots op Den Haag’. The organisation, translated core values, social impact value and ‘Sustainable Development Goals’ were explained. In it, it became clear that ADO Den Haag holds a pioneering position in terms of monitoring and quantifying its projects according to the MAEX methodology compared to other ‘Professional Football Organisations’.

“Being unique fits within The Hague’s culture!”

Kees Brouwers, CSR Manager

Social impact

The tricky thing for many initiatives is that the social impact of their existence and activities is significant but cannot be expressed in financial value. This is why the social AEX index, abbreviated MAEX, was created. MAEX measures and presents the social value and impact of various initiatives based on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Based on the budget, the number of FTEs, partners and stakeholders and the number of contact moments with project participants, the financial value of the foundation is determined. Each investment of €1 in season 2021-22, gave €1.26 back to The Hague society. This means that the income of over €300,000 from ADO Den Haag in de Maatschappij in the previous season, ended up generating €380,000 in social impact!

SOUF

To make the developments visual, the presentation ended with the premiere of the mini-documentary ‘SOUF’ about Soufyen, who lives in Schilderswijk and stands out as a project participant within the ADO Den Haag VO Voetbal League. ADO Den Haag in de Maatschappij gives Soufyen the opportunity to grow within the foundation as trainer of ‘Living like an ADO-Prof!’. As assistant trainer, Soufyen trains participants from the Schilderswijk neighbourhood, a youth team of HVV Laakkwartier and the team of Leergeld Den Haag.

Panel discussion

Wietze continued the programme with a panel discussion between Hilbert Bredemeijer (Municipality of The Hague), Charlie Ortega (Leergeld Den Haag), Carien Janssen van Raay (Fonds 1818) and Philip Kouwenhoven (ADO Den Haag in de Maatschappij) in which ADO Den Haag’s social role was explained from different points of view.

Partners Parnassia and Menzis

To fund the foundation’s project activities, partners in many areas are essential. During the meeting, special attention was paid to Menzis and Parnassia who signed their new agreement with the foundation. Stefan Raats (Menzis) and Richard Prins (Parnassia) put their signatures to an agreement that connects their organisation longer with the social impact ADO Den Haag makes on its region.

Annual report 2021-2022

The final piece of the meeting was in the hands of CSR Project Manager Anton Nijboer. He proudly presented the Annual Report 2021-22 with special attention to the connection ADO Den Haag in de Maatschappij makes between target groups, organisations and partners. Special guest was project participant Ruud Ratchasing of the ADO Den Haag OldStars (walking football for 60-plussers), who accepted the first copy. His action photo is on the front of the annual report!
