Aston Villa FC Foundation boosts employment opportunities for young people

The Aston Villa Foundation has been working closely with Sandwell & West Birmingham Hospital (SWBH) over the last eight months to provide a range of entry-level programmes for young people in the local area.

Funded by another partner, the Supporting Career Opportunities Recruitment Employment, or SCORE programme, has provided work experience placements and entry-level access for young people aged 16-30 to secure employment within the NHS Health & Social care supply chain.

Since the programme commenced back in January, ten jobs have already been secured for participants, including roles as project support administrators and coordinators within the Trust’s Volunteers Services Team.

Over the summer, the SCORE programme team have been actively recruiting, supporting, and training candidates for Health Care Assistant roles, helping young people gain specialist training as they begin their employment journey in the Trust.

“I gained a lot of transferable skills, such as communication, and I feel it has helped me to gain a potential job in the NHS.”

Arshdeep, one of the many successful participants of the programme

“Participants of the SCORE Programme were able to develop their own personal skills, as well as the five key skills of leadership – communication, teamwork, self-belief, self-management and problem solving.”

“All participants involved expressed their gratitude to the Education and Skills team at the Aston Villa Foundation, for helping them build up their confidence, as well as make the sessions enjoyable and tailored to them.”
