Cagliari Calcio part of ‘Sport as a vehicle for integration’

On the occasion of the patronal feast of Sant’Eulalia, in the heart of the historic center of Cagliari, Cagliari Calcio took part in the initiative “Sport as a vehicle for integration”. Boris Radunovic, Alberto Dossena, and Christos Kourfalidis, assisted by the Head of CSR, events and relations with fans Elisabetta Scorcu, met the young people and families of the “Marina”, a neighborhood symbol of integration in the city, answering questions from the audience and moderators on stage, the landlord Don Marco Lai, director of the Caritas diocesana di Cagliari, and Massimiliano Medda.

Don Marco Lai opened the evening with saying,

“We thank Cagliari Calcio for everything they do in the area. The Club carries out a fundamental work to spread an important example to the youngest on the centrality of sport in order to grow from a human point of view and be able to contribute to others, starting with those who are most in difficulty”.

As players talk about their experiences since they have been to Cagliari, it’s always been possitive and motivative. Playing for Cagliari Calcio helps them to receive the love from the city even more. Radunovic explains; “Love for the team is very strong, we see it every day and during our matches at the stadium. I integrated really quickly, being here and chatting with the kids is a really rewarding experience. I tell them never to give up and follow their aspirations with conviction, believing in themselves”.

“This year the theme of integration is particularly important for the historical moment we are going through, we believe that sport, football, Cagliari in particular, can be an important driving force to include every segment of society. This is why we strongly believe in projects such as the Neighborhood Cup, participation in Paralympic football tournaments, the opening and development of the Curva Futura with the Scuola di Tifo (Supporting School), and in general in all the work dedicated to supporting local and the communities”.
