EFDN welcomes St. Patrick’s Athletic FC

St. Patrick’s Athletic FC has joined EFDN. Our new member wants to share experiences and learn best practices in partnership with community-oriented clubs of all sizes across Europe.

The Irish club is contributing to the development and well-being of their community, using the power of football to facilitate community cohesion through education, inclusion, and sports participation. St. Patrick’s Athletic FC has repurposed their home ground Richmond Park to set up a Covid-19 Food Bank to meet the needs of residents during the lockdown period. The club has delivered a programme which addressed the lack of available opportunities for supporters and local residents to partake in physical exercise while Covid-19 measures have closed gyms and recreational sporting facilities. Their Saints and Scholars Numeracy Programme which targets numerical improvements alongside the encouragement of regular physical exercise among young people in their community has seen classes record attendance and numerical improvements across ten-week programmes.
