FC Emmen’s Oussama el Azzouzi becomes new ambassador Youth Fund Sport & Culture in Drenthe

20-year-old Oussama El Azzouzi is experiencing his breakthrough as a professional footballer in his first season with FC Emmen. The born Veenendaler has played football his whole life. From the streets and pitches in the neighbourhood to football fields at various professional football clubs in the Netherlands. Since Oussama could walk, he had a ball at his feet. It was love at first sight. He wants to share that passion, but he knows that not everyone has the opportunity to participate in sport or culture. That is exactly why he decided to become ambassador of the Youth Fund Sport & Culture in the region of Drente.

Youth Fund Sport & Culture is intended for children and young people aged between 2 and 18, living in the province of Drenthe, who for financial reasons are unable to take part in sports, music, dance, theatre or visual arts. And this while it is enormously important for children to be able to participate. Their learning results improve, their self-confidence grows and they make new friends. The Youth Fund Sport & Culture can help make this possible! They work with professional intermediaries from among others education, district teams, debt assistance and youth care who can submit an application.

“Playing football every day has brought me a lot personally. I cannot imagine not being able to play football anymore. At the same time, I also know that there are children who do not have the opportunity to participate in sport and culture. I grew up in a neighbourhood where not everyone had the money to pay for things like membership fees. The fact that the Youth Fund Sport and Culture makes it possible for children to participate in sport and culture appeals to me greatly. I therefore did not hesitate for a moment to become an ambassador for this fund. Together we will ensure that everyone in the region will have the opportunity to take part in sport and culture,”
