Legendary Midfield Duo Jochems and De Zoute present ADO Den Haag’s most successful years

On Feb 15th after the winter break, ADO Den Haag organized the 1st ADO Memories gathering of 2023.

The attending clients from Respect Care, Florence and Cardia were treated to great stories from club legends Lex Schoenmaker, Joop Jochems and Piet de Zoete, and also got the chance to make new contacts with people from other care centres. This meeting was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Health.

As usual, enthusiastic clients and their attendants visited the Bingoal Stadium around 11.00 am. During this edition, legendary midfield duo Piet de Zoete and Joop Jochems were guests to talk about ADO Den Haag’s most successful years. Club icon Lex Schoenmaker, regular visitor of ADO Herinneringen, joined the conversation with great stories.

The questions, asked by ADO Den Haag archivist Frans Leermakers, covered what it was like to play under legendary coach Ernst Happel, what had happened during the famous trip to the United States, what their favourite moments of their careers were, who the toughest opponents were and also ADO Den Haag’s unexpected 4-2 loss against Holland Sport on 22 February 1970. This great moment for Holland Sport was explained by Holland Sport expert Hans de Jager.

The participants enjoyed the amusing stories and moments of this golden generation of ADO Den Haag. After the interview, there was plenty of time to enjoy lunch and engage in conversation with each other about ADO Den Haag. ADO Den Haag OldStars (Walking Football participants) Theo van Leeuwen, Rob Gaspers and Ben van Kampen shared their ADO experiences and adventures with the senior citizens.
