Legia Warsaw sponsors ambulance for children’s health center

Legia Warsaw and its fans support a Children’s Health Center with a special ambulance. The gift was handed over during the recent Legia family day next to the stadium.

The money for the ambulance was raised by a joint multi-month campaign of the group of “Good People – supporters of Legia for children”, the Association of Legia Warsaw supporters and the Legia Foundation.  The fundraising campaign began with a bucket collection at the Legia stadium during the league match against Lech Poznań (17 May 2017). The money was paid into an account created especially for supporters by the For Life Foundation. Additional money was raised during fundraising activities at the fitness fairs FIWE and during a match of the basketball team from Legia Warsaw, a charity exhibition leg art of Ultras Art and donations from private persons and supporters.

“I am very happy that thanks to the involvement of many people, I managed to buy an ambulance. There would be no action if it was not for the initiators – “Good People – legia fans”. These are not only good people, they are great people. Big thanks are also due to the Association of Legia Warsaw Supporters, who actively supported us throughout the entire duration of the campaign. We are a great legionary family, which, as a noble goal appears, is able to unite even more. Together, we can do more. We have purchased this specialized vehicle together, which now we can donate to the Children’s Health Center”, said the President of the Legia Warsaw Foundation, Anna Mioduska, during the ceremony.

82,000 Euro worth and perfectly equipped

The Legia Foundation has allocated the second edition of its charity campaign to this cause and invited the group “Good People – supporters of Legia for Children” and the Association of Legia Warsaw Supporters into a wider cooperation. In addition, the Foundation launched an online collection, issued unique club memorabilia for the auctions and donated a profit from the sale of holiday products. Next to the foundation, the club itself also provided financial support.

“The resources available to the institute are very limited. We largely function thanks to contributions and people of good will. Thanks to the “Good People – Legia supporters for children” group, the Legia Warsaw Supporters’ Association and the Legia Foundation, this ambulance is the best example of this. The vehicle is not only new but also perfectly equipped. It has great amortisation systems that, regardless of the patient’s age, will allow you to cross the hardest terrain. It is very important for us to ensure safe transport, and also allow the doctor to safely look after the patient. Care for children’s health is our common responsibility “, said the director of the Children’s Health Center, prof. Małgorzata Syczewska.

Huge variety of social projects

“Legia Warszawa supporters support many charitable initiatives. Among them, for example, organized blood collections, support animal shelters and provide school kits for needy children. The slogan “Mocno Legia” occurs not only in the fan zone but also in these fundraising actions. This is the first ambulance in Poland, handed over by fans”, said Dariusz Kowalczyk representative of the Legia Warsaw Supporters Association.

The supporters work closely together with the clubs charity institution. The Legia Foundation aims to bring help to the people in need and disadvantageous conditions in Poland. Therefore, it offers various types of single actions, long-term community programmes, as well as direct financial and in-kind support. The Foundation and the club itself, see themselves as a role model, trying to encourage, and motivate everyone to join the great Legia Warsaw family and be #ReadyToHelp.
