Many new faces during MDT exchange of Vitesse United

An exchange between two MDT programmes at Vitesse United took place at the end of December. The similarity between social service time (MDT) programmes is the discovery of talents in young people. During MDT, you learn a lot about yourself, what you can do and what you like. This theme was central to the exchange.

Diversity Skills at New Rootz has newcomers as its main group, so 30 young people from Ukraine came to GelreDome last Monday to meet the young people from Vitesse United. After a tour of the Vitesse stadium, a football tournament was scheduled. The teams were mixed, this provided a fun challenge for the youngsters to interact among themselves.

20 youngsters from Vitesse United went to the Diversity Skills venue for a wheelchair basketball clinic. The wheelchair basketball clinic was conducted by Ali Hasson, player of the Dutch wheelchair basketball team. This fitted well with the objectives of the MDT programme, to get young people to play different sports, where they can use life-skills. These include stepping out of your comfort zone and talking to someone different from you.
