Impact Report of the 1st #MorethanFootball Action Week

From 30th of March until 9th of April 2017, the first European-wide #MorethanFootball Action Week took place. A week entirely devoted to showcasing the positive impact of CSR in football.

Today, EFDN is pleased to share the Action Week Impact Report 2017, which evaluates the initiative and gives credit to the fantastic work, which European Football Clubs, Foundations, Community Trusts, Leagues, FA’s and Organisations delivered all over Europe during the campaign.

As the report shows, these initiatives are the best prove that football has the power to change people’s lives for the better.

After launching the Action Week at the Estádio da Luz in Lisbon on 23rd of March, the participating football clubs, community trusts, foundations, leagues, football associations and organisations celebrated the work they do on and off the pitch on a local, national and international level, thereby addressing key societal issues.

Just to name a few, in Belgium a football festival for children and young adults with a disability was organised, in Hungary a charity run took place to raise money for families with less financial means and in the Ukraine children took part in a football tournament in a secure environment.

Overall, 84 organisations from 28 countries participated in the Action Week and more than 80 500 people were reached.

These numbers show us that European Football is keen to get involved in initiatives that highlight the transformative role that football plays.

Save the date: 2nd #Morethanfootball Action Week

Next year’s #Morethanfootball Action Week will take place from 26th of March to 8th  of April 2018, embracing the International Day of Sport and Peace on 6th of April.

EFDN, along with its stakeholders, is working toward integrating the #Morethanfootball Action Week into the European Football’s sporting calendar as an annual event and thereby providing an opportunity for football organisations to showcase their fantastic work.

We welcome the entire European Football to participate again next year in this new and unique initiative.
