Rangers Charity Foundation: Jack Butland Meets Team Talk Participants

Rangers FC player, Jack Butland met a group of Team Talk participants at the Rangers Training Centre to hear about how the men’s mental health and wellbeing programme had helped them and their families.

This marked the renewal of Kindred Group’s funding commitment to the club’s community initiative Team Talk, delivered by the Rangers Charity Foundation.

“Mental health is an extremely important subject so it was great to have five Rangers fans talking about their stories. There were some tough ones and it is always difficult to hear but they are in a good direction now with some great some support from through the Team Talk programme. The fans of the club are incredible. We know it’s not easy for everyone but to meet the guys and see that they have that support, it is a proud thing to know that your Club and Foundation are doing that.”

The programme is in its third year and has helped 117 men in the local area and beyond, with weekly virtual and in-person sessions offered. There is also a free weekly Team Talk Football programme where participants can have a kickabout at the Ibrox Community Complex run by trained Rangers Community Coaches and then a chat afterwards in a safe and welcoming space.

“We’re proud of the community initiatives that we have worked together with Kindred to build, and to have helped so many people at Team Talk. The Rangers Charity Foundation is a powerful force for good and reached over 10,000 via 20 programmes in the community last season. The long-running nature of our relationship with Kindred enables us to build strategic support for people in the local community, which in this case is men who may benefit from assistance with their mental health. We’re also incredibly grateful for Kindred’s generous sponsorship for our annual Big Ibrox Sleep Out events over a number of years.”

Connal Cochrane, Rangers Charity Foundation Chief Executive

“Kindred is very selective in terms of the clubs it partners with. And all of our sponsorship work is predicated on community funding and support. In Rangers and Team Talk we have the ideal outlet for this ambition. We’re thrilled with the success of the project to date, and look forward to helping more local men in the months ahead.”
