Roda JC switches to sustainable reusable cups in their stadium

To combat the huge amount of plastic litter, the use of disposable plastic cups has been banned by the Dutch government from 1 January 2024 at events such as football matches. Therefore, in Parkstad Limburg (Roda JC Stadium), the current disposable plastic cups will be replaced by reusable cups. At the same time, there will be a switch to one fixed pouring size of 40CL.

The new approach is a collaboration of Roda JC with Van Melick Groep and Cupstack. This underlines our ambitions when it comes to a more sustainable and cleaner stadium. In this way, together with our supporters, we can make a difference.

How does it work?

With your first order, a one-off €2.00 per cup will be added to the total amount of your order. On your next order, you will receive a new, clean cup in exchange for your used cup and you will not pay €2.00 again. Run out of your last drink? Then you have a few options:

  1. Return it for a token
You hand in your cup at a catering outlet and receive a token. The token, a coin that easily fits in your pocket or wallet, can be turned in at your next order. You will then get a new cup, without paying again.
  2. Take it home
Take the cup home and bring it back next time or keep the cup at home and pay € 2.00 for your new cup again with your next order.
  3. Donation to Roda JC and Healthy in My Region
You donate part of the value of your cup by putting it in the yellow donation bins at the exits of the stadium. The proceeds will go to Roda JC and ‘Gezond in mijn Streek‘ (Healthy in my region). By doing so, you contribute to the club’s social projects, among other things.
