SCHOOLS WITH MALMÖ FF’S FOOTBALL PROFILE ONCE AGAIN IN THE TOP RANKINGS

Last week, the Malmö primary school administration presented the school results for the city’s outgoing ninth graders. The list of upper secondary school qualifications for the autumn term included two schools where Malmö FF has a football profile at the top.

The list of upper secondary school qualifications was topped by Malmö primary sports school, which is located in the stadium area. Almost 98% of the students at the school who recently finished ninth grade were qualified for upper secondary school for the autumn of 2023.

“It feels wonderful and very important.”

Per Ågren, Head of Sports and Head of Values for MFF Youth

It was in 2005 that Staffan Tapper, together with Richard Ohlqvist, started implementing football education in the daily school activities at Lorensborg School, a stone’s throw from Eleda Stadium. This was the start of the sports profile seen today.

“And they had an important principle that we have continued to follow – if you are not in line with your studies, you will not come out and practice football. This means that students try to keep up with their schoolwork and get passing grades so that they can enter upper secondary school.”

Per Ågren, Head of Sports and Head of Values for MFF Youth

The football education and school representatives maintain a close dialogue with each other in order to support the students. There is also a sports mentor, Paul Übelacker, who acts as a link between training and school, teachers and coaches. He helps students find the right tools to succeed both in the classroom and on the field.

Toftanäs School is also one of the schools where Malmö FF provides football training. The school came third in terms of upper secondary school qualifications for the autumn term, with 94% of the departing ninth graders qualifying for upper secondary school.

“This is something we are very proud of. We don’t just want to make them good football players, we want to make them good people too.”

Per Ågren, Head of Sports and Head of Values for MFF Youth
