Second edition of Willem II Player Never Walks Alone

Last year, Willem II Foundation and KingZine Foundation organised the social action ‘A Willem II’er never walks alone’ for the first time. Due to great success and the many positive reactions, this year this action will have a second edition on Saturday afternoon 23 March preceding Willem II – VVV Venlo.

Every week, the supporters sing ‘We are the KingSide and vakkie E, we are with thousands and never walk alone’. With that song, they show that they are a close-knit collective that is unstoppable. It graces the camaraderie felt by supporters at Willem II and it is perhaps the reason why our supporters come to Willem II every week.

A Willem II member never walks alone

Unfortunately, having friends or having a spontaneous chat with a stranger is not self-evident for everyone. More than a quarter of Dutch people sometimes feel lonely. Loneliness is particularly prevalent among the elderly and has increased in recent years. Unfortunately, inhabitants of Tilburg also have to deal with loneliness. The KingZine Foundation and Willem II Betrokken believe that loneliness in Tilburg should get the attention it needs. At the same time, KingZine and Willem II Betrokken are keen to show the city and region what the strength of Willem II is: connecting people because of their love for a football club.

The aim of this action is to go for a walk with people who could use some company. Everyone who wants to participate will walk with someone who is lonely. The action will take place prior to the home match against VVV Venlo on Saturday 23 March at the beginning of the afternoon. More information can be found on the official Willem II website.
