Students find work on actual problems fun and real

The Chelsea Foundation welcomed the French Amos Sport Business School to Stamford Bridge to take on a unique set of challenges all designed to boost their business and language skills.

Students, all of whom speak English as a second language, were tasked with delivering a series of presentations to a panel of industry experts including Kerry O’Shea who is a marketing lead at Chelsea, Sam Barton an E Sports expert, and Ivo Adamo who has an extensive background in customer relations.

Presentations included designing campaigns to make match days at Stamford Bridge and Kingsmeadow more sustainable and projects to increase the percentage of female fans attending games at Stamford Bridge and Kingsmeadow, and ideas for spectator experiences involving virtual reality being.

The panellists also held a Q&A offering students some expert tips on forging a career in the sports sector. The panel then judged the finalists’ presentations with the winners being taken on a VIP tour of Stamford Bridge as part of their prize.

Chelsea FC Foundation has worked with AMOS since 2019 and regularly hosts such events as part of an ongoing partnership which continues to go from strength to strength.

‘I was very happy to take part in that business challenge. When we met in our group for the first time, I thought to myself that we had a great team. We had a lot of ideas and projects to develop to answer the question asked. Overall, having those kinds of opportunities can help us create a network, and work on actual problems or questions is even more fun and real. The fact that Chelsea was on the name of our Business Challenge brings more interest in the work.’

Attendee on the day: Inès Bedou

I really enjoyed the opportunity. As a team we were well organised and ready to present our project. I was very grateful to be there and also proud of our work. We had really great feedback from all the managers in the room and especially from Kerry.

She was enthusiastic about the idea, and I hope we can put our ideas into practice to help increase attendances at Chelsea Women’s matches. Opportunities like this give me the chance to believe in my ideas and put them into practice, increasing my confidence and motivation for further projects.’
