Successful Kickoff for FCM Samfund in Thisted

Wednesday 1 November 2023 was the official opening of FCM Samfund‘s new department in Thisted, a town in the Danish region of North Jutland, for young people who are stuck in unemployment, illness or addiction.

Young people in Thisted can now get help from the “Together We Go On the Field” programme created by FC Midtjylland’s CSR organisation, FCM Samfund. The programme uses the principles of football talent development to help young people – without requiring an interest in sports. More than half of the young people continue in jobs or education after the programme – a very high success rate in this area.

“We chose FCM Samfund as our partner because they have a different approach to working with young people that has shown good results elsewhere. With the reorganisation of the local employment efforts, it was time to think outside the box, and with FCM Samfund we have done just that. We hope and believe that FCM Samfund’s use of elements from the world of sports can help bring more young people into education and jobs in Thisted Municipality.”

Trine Engholm Christensen, Head of Business and Employment, Thisted Municipality.

More than Football Award 2023

FCM Samfund is one of the shortlisted clubs for the More than Football Award 2023 with their project The Together on the Field (Sammen går vi på bannen). This project focuses on developing, training and strengthening the candidate’s prerequisites and skills for and, to complete training as well as take on a job or education. Additionally, their social and personal qualities are also strengthened. FCM Samfund realises this project through targeted effort, with weekly joint teaching and individual support within the framework of the sports’ network, and based on the principles of talent development. During the 20th EFDN ‘Making Football Matter’ Conference Mr. Christiansen will give a 15-minute presentation about this project. The winner, to be decided by a voting system, will be announced at the Gala Dinner in the Acropolis Museum at Tuesday 14th of November.
