Pilar Castillo of Real Betis Balompié is appointed DAO ambassador of CAFE Football

The Head of Disability at ​​the Real Betis Balompié Foundation has been chosen to represent the European institution in Spain to make sure that fans with a disability have full access to football matches.

Pilar Castillo, Head of Disability at Real Betis Balompié, has recently been appointed DAO (Disability Access Officer) ambassador in Spain for CAFE Football. The person in charge of this area of ​​the Verdiblanco Club has been chosen to represent this European institution that is responsible for ensuring that disabled people can have an inclusive experience on match days in an inclusive, accessible and welcoming environment.

The representative of the Club will promote inclusive measures among Spanish clubs, competitions and fans that promote a positive change in their institutions so that people with disabilities can enjoy 100% live sports.

With this appointment, the European entity values ​​the work that Real Betis Balompié and its Disability Area, which iy has been carrying out for years to improve access to the Benito Villamarín Stadium and the inclusion in society of people with a disability . Pilar Castillo will be in charge of transmitting the values ​​and knowledge of CAFE Football to the rest of the Spanish Clubs to work together for the total inclusion of people with different abilities.

CAFE Football

NGO Partner of EFDN, CAFE Football, was created in 2009 with the aim of enabling fans with disabilities to attend live football matches throughout the UEFA region. 

Its aim is to help improve accessibility services and facilities in stadiums, raise awareness about access and inclusion in the game, offer advice to football fans with disabilities and establish a network of disabled fan groups.

They work together with clubs and venues to implement accessibility services for fans with various disabilities, such as wheelchair users.

His support for UEFA includes projects on the EURO championships and all major UEFA competitions, including the Champions League and the Europa League.

Before each competition, they visit the host stadiums and help them improve accessibility before the start of the tournament. They also publish accessibility guides for fans with disabilities who attend the tournament, and train commentators to provide descriptive audio commentary on each match for those who are blind or partially sighted.
