Webinar CCL – UEFA

On March 22, the 1st international meeting took place online. The webinar started with a brief presentation from participating clubs. Community Champions methodology, communication, monitoring and evaluation and finance were the other topics discussed.

The objectives of the CCL-UEFA program are:

  • Tackling racism, discrimination and violence in sport.
  • Promoting social inclusion between youth from different backgrounds.
  • Teaching life skills (winning, losing and volunteering)
  • Tackling small street crime
  • Promoting positive engagement from parents, friends, neighbourhoods.
  • Promoting voluntary in sport

The nine EFDN members Ferencvárosi TC, NAC Breda, Foundation 92, SL Benfica, FC Twente, Panathionaikos FC, De Graafschap, Real Betis Balompié and Shaktar Donetsk are participating in the programme.

”We have already participed in the CCL – EU. We are very glad that we got approval to join once again. The lessons learned from the Erasmus edition can be used to make this project to an even greater success. One of those experiences was obviously that we were challenged by the pandemic. This asked for adaption and new initiatives. And we are very excited to implement these new initiatives in this CCL – UEFA project.”

Bálint Máté-  Ferencváros

”We want to improve the project on a national level. The international aspect is also very interesting. I think we can learn a lot from different implementations. We feel they want to improve their communities. They make more contributions. In schools in Portugal they are not as involved in sport. Involved less in schools, more in the communities. Implementations are very different depending on the community.”

Ana Catarina Gomes – SL Benfica

”This is the first time that we are joining a CSR programme of such a size, and we are ofcourse very happy that we can join this project. It is also a good challenge for us to see the dynamic in Greek society. We think it’s a very useful instrument for the achievement of CSR goals.”

Constantina Skorda – Panathionaikos

This year’s goal is again to start a new community where social issues can be tackled with the power of football.
