Getafe CF presents the Inclusive Football Academy “Al Alza”

Fundación Getafe CF and Getafe CF have launched the inclusive football academy “Al Alza”. The new initiative started within the framework of the corporate social responsibility policy.

The project, that will be based and implemented at Getafe CF’s facilities, is aimed at people with physical and intellectual disabilities. This new initiative was launched in collaboration with various local organisations and associations.

“I remember a year ago the same people were in this press room to present our football team for people living with intellectual disabilities. Finally, after a year, thanks to all the efforts, we have managed to highlight and improve this important initiative and we have managed to attract attention among people interested in participating in this team”, said Diego García, CEO of the Getafe FC Foundation.

He added: “Now, after recognising a large interest in continuing with this work, we have decided to start this new programme called inclusive football academy “Al Alza”(get up). With this new programme, we will focus not only on people with intellectual disabilities. The project is also open to people with other special conditions like physical disabilities or cerebral palsy. We want them to be part of our family. ”

The presentation ceremony was attended by many of the associations that the club and Foundation are working and collaborating with. Juan Agudo, General Manager of the Association of Parents and Friends with different children (APANID); Rosa Fernández Baladrón, Vice President of the Association of Sports and Leisure Association (FEDDIG 2008); Felipe Alcaraz Buendía, President of Apoyo y Disabled Development in Rivas (FUNDAR); Clemente Villaverde (CEO of Getafe CF) and Diego Garcia Diego (CEO of Fundación Getafe CF) were among those in attendance.

The objectives of the new Al Alza school are:

  • To encourage and increase the participation of people with disabilities in sports activities using an educational and inclusive approach.
  • To raise awareness about the situation of people with disabilities in sports.
  • To improve the physical, psychological and social abilities of participants as a consequence of being part of a team.
  • To promote healthy lifestyle habits.
  • To promote inclusiveness and acceptance in society.

“Al Alza” will be launched once the social and health situation allows it, with safety measurements and as little risk as possible for participants.

Detailed information related to the project as well as the registration form is available on the Foundation’s website www.fundaciongetafecf.com.
