Young Ajax players bring gifts to Emma Children’s Hospital
It was a special day for all children in the Emma Children’s Hospital and the teams from Ajax O8 to O12. The young Ajax kids scored as many goals as possible between the beginning of March and the end of May to collect presents for all sick children.
All youth players went to the hospital to hand over the presents personally. It produced many smiling faces. The Ajax youth teams arrived at the sports complex ‘de Toekomst’ at 12:45 to pack all the presents. ABN AMRO, the social partner of the Ajax Foundation, used the goals of the youth teams to sponsor a number of gifts for the children. When everything was packed, the players’ bus was ready to leave.
Playroom turned into a football pitch
Once in the hospital, the playroom was transformed into a place to play (table) football. The Ajax kids got to know the children of the hospital through conversations and games. The staff of the hospital was also involved as the youth players gave the general gifts for the hospital to them. Afterwards, it was time for the young players to visit the rooms of sick children. The moment when the mini Champions League balls were handed over was a moment of joy for young and old. The children of the Emma Children’s Hospital and Ajax then played football together in the room. It was the end of a special afternoon.
