Health Champions

Health_ChampsplaceSince 2012, the Foundation have delivered our very own Health Champions programme aimed at improving health and wellbeing amongst children, young people and adults through educational workshops and physical activity.

Created to target deprived wards in Surrey, Specialist schools and youth clubs/housing associations, the programme ensures that communities have equal access to health education by working with local authorities to identify beneficiaries. Within the context of football, the programme increases participants’ understanding of what constitutes a healthy lifestyle by discussing important topics like balanced diet, portion size, food labels, and the importance of exercise in weekly sessions and family holiday courses.

Health Champions has been tremendously successful, with 100% of participants reporting increased awareness of what constitutes a healthy diet, and 93.7% reporting an increase in physical activity levels following completion of the programme.
