Heart of Midlothian FC – Big Hearts Supporters
Big Hearts Supporters is the first initiative of its kind in Scottish football, enabling Hearts fans to make a difference in their community. The programme offers many ways to get involved including opportunities to volunteer through Big Hearts or partner charities.
Launched in February 2016, the initiative has been enabling any Hearts fan to get involved with the charity and their community. By cooperating with other partner charities and organisations, Big Hearts Community Trust has created a Volunteering programme, offering various volunteering opportunities through Big Hearts and partners. This allows Big Hearts Supporters to devote their time, skills and expertise making a significant difference within the community, as well as representing the charity across a varied range of roles in the community.
Results
The Big Hearts Supporters initiative has brought much success since its launch. Over 1,500 fans have signed up to give their backing. Over 63% of them expressed an interest in volunteering and was able to do so.
To date, Big Hearts volunteers helped deliver over 20 projects with 10 different partner charities, allowing Big Hearts to expand their own range of support in the same time.
