Red & Blue Schools – Paris Saint-Germain Foundation

The first Red & Blue School opened in January 2016 with the help of the Paris City Hall. The initiative Ecole Rouge & Bleu is an after school programme, which combines sports and education. The programme has been developed for children aged between 7-11 years old and provides every participating child with 40 sessions of after-school support. The sessions take place at an activity room built on a sport site in underprivileged areas of Paris.

The Paris Saint-Germain Foundation explains that “based on the fact that struggles at school take source before they become six, the school welcomes students of primary school age already in difficulty in their schooling, or at risk of falling into problems.

The programme follows the goals of using sport as a key element for educational success:

  • Helping children flourish & gain self-confidence
  • Building a solid basis of soft skills
  • Boosting children’s desire to learn

The element of sport and the club Paris Saint-Germain are at the heart of the approach. The children are encouraged to learn through games and to open up their minds. Every effort shall be encouraged and playing as a team is emphasised throughout the activities.
