Social engagement in surrounding areas- Schalke 04
Schalke 04 particularly focuses their community engagement in the regions of Gelsenkirchen, the Ruhr area and surroundings. In one of the neighbourhoods, a major tradition is the yearly Christmas dinner with socially deprived families and individuals.
Well established are also the training sessions for people with a disability, which take place at Schalke’s Knappenschmiede training facilities.
An important social contribution is also being delivered by Schalke’s “Social Event Support”, which auctions off commodity contributions in order to then donates the money to different causes.
Another important initiative of the foundation is called “A thousand friends, Standing Together” and highlights the solidarity of the club. To show solidarity and to have a positive impact on the fans life’s, during every game the club fulfils dearest wishes. Next to that, certain fans, who do not have the financial means for purchasing tickets at the normal rate, get the tickets for a cheaper price.
