Aston Villa Foundation – Show Racism The Red Card

Show Racism the Red Card is the UK’s anti-racism educational charity and was established in January 1996.
The organisation utilises the high-profile status of football and football players to help tackle racism in society.

The majority of the campaign’s output is the delivery of education to young people and adults in their schools, their workplaces and at events held in football stadiums.

Each season Aston Villa supports Show Racism the Red Card by having the entire squad photo taken with Show Racism the Red Card banners.
These posters are then handed out in schools, at Villa Park and at local community events.
The club also hosted the first-ever joint educational conference organised by both Show Racism the Red Card and Kick It Out.

The club was proud to hold such a prestigious event at Villa Park as there couldn’t be a more natural venue for such an initiative.
Last season the club hosted a SRtRC educational event attended by over 100 school children from across Birmingham.

The event was attended by several notable people from the football world and most importantly by Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor.
Gabby spoke to the children about the importance of diversity in a multicultural city like Birmingham and stressed that racism has no place in the game and that football is a game for everyone.
